Occupational Therapy & Music Therapy

Occupational Therapy is firmly linked to the overall objectives of the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust`s multi-disciplinary approach.

Young people are continually assessed and therapy is individually tailored to their needs. Occupational therapists use a range of activities to motivate youngsters to help them reach their maximum level of functioning and independence in all aspects of daily life. These activities include personal independence, education, social, recreational and leisure pursuits.

The make up of the Eating and Drinking Team gives an insight into the complexities of daily life at Dame Hannahs and how occupational therapy is so vital to each young person`s day. The team consists of an speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and nurse. This one multi-disciplinary team continually assesses the youngsters` needs and provides expert advice and guidance, so that meal times are safe and enjoyable.

Music therapy is enjoyed by all of our young people who have great fun interacting and responding to sound and rhythm. Often young people who have profound and multiple learning difficulties frequently respond in a stimulating music therapy session.
