Take to the seas for Dame Hannah's sailors

Josh and his friends at Dame Hannah's love sailing. Now you can take to the seas and raise money for them. The Dame Hannah Rogers Trust is looking for keen sailors to take part in the Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit on Saturday 17th July. The

The Eddystone Pursuit, a 26-mile long offshore pursuit is open to all sailors and is a great chance for beginners to challenge the professionals. With a course to Hands Deep Buoy and back again, it offers a really fun way to raise money for a very worthwhile cause.

With at least £12,000 in prize money available to be won for nominated charities this year, event organizer, The Royal Western Yacht Club says that all types of yacht; "20-footers, cruising boats, out-and-out racers and everything in between" are eligible to enter. Boats can compete on an individual basis, or make up a team of three; each with a minimum of £50 sponsorship each. Dame Hannah's will be in with a chance of winning prize money for every yacht entered on the charity's behalf, in the individual and team events.

Head of Supporter Relations at Dame Hannah's, Phil Lloyd said, "The Eddystone Pursuit is always a tremendous day. With cash prizes even available to boats that finish in 50th place, it's a great way for beginners to test the waters and launch their racing skills, as well as a superb course for old-hands. There is even a £500 prize for the team that raises the most money for charity, so Dame Hannah's could be an all round winner. The Trust does tremendous work for physically disabled young people, but this is only possible through the support of hands-on volunteers and fundraisers, who by doing what they love, make a life-changing difference".
