Dame Hannah Rogers Trust's School 5 - 16
A leading special school for young people with physical disabilities aged 5 to 16
Based in the small town of Ivybridge, on the edge of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, the Dame Hannah Rogers Trust has been transforming the lives of inspirational young people for over two hundred years. Today, the Trust provides a range of special education and care of which Dame Hannah's residential school for children and young people aged 5-19 is a vital component.
The young people who live and learn with us are contending with physical disabilities and associated learning and communication difficulties, some of which are profound. Many of them also have complex medical needs. Providing specialist therapy and care, 24 hours a day, every day, our multi-disciplinary team is second to none, meaning that at Dame Hannah`s, every child grows up in a stimulating and caring environment. Students are encouraged and supported to achieve to the very best of their abilities, whatever they may be. Accessing the National Curriculum at the appropriate levels and learning in small class groups of between five and seven students, creates great opportunities for personal development.
Young people attending Dame Hannah`s can do so residing on weekly or termly basis. Additionally, places are available for residential education and care placements of up to 50 weeks. Whilst some young people from the immediate locality attend as day students the majority enjoy residential care.
In addition to the excellent learning opportunities afforded to young people at Dame Hannah`s, families can also gain support through vital respite breaks in the purpose built Respite Centre.
A consistent record of outstanding achievement has contributed to Dame Hannah`s developing a national reputation as a Centre of Excellence. This is driven by a passionate belief that young people with physical disabilities and their families deserve the very best that we can give them. This commitment to the needs of our young people was recognised officially in 2006 when Ofsted placed Dame Hannah`s in the top 32 of all schools in the UK, officially recognising the Trust as one of the UK`s leading providers of education and care for young people with physical disabilities.
If you are a parent looking for the very best provision for your child, Dame Hannah`s can support you in you in every aspect of securing a place and helping them to settle in.
